Nice reasonably price hotel in the heart of town. Great outdoor area for kids! Would definitely come back.

Room was clean when we arrived on Friday. Did not do any type of paperwork at the front desk. No check in. Smoke detector batteries were dead. Had to remove batteries to keep the unit from beeping. Man who greeted us was aware of the dead batteries. Said he would get someone in there to replace them. Nobody ever showed up. Room was not cleaned the next day. No staff to assist in extra towels. Waited to check out on Sunday. Checkout time is 10:00. Man finally showed up at 10:30. No checkout paperwork either. Just took the key. Made comment that they never throw anybody out. Thank god for credit card statements and confirmation emails to prove I stayed at this hotel.
Beautiful town full of friendly people. Want sweeping vistas? They've got 'em. Hotel Ryland is a comfortable little place with nice amenities, capable of making a week feel like you're at home. At least five grills are available if you like a steak, and the porches are great for sitting around on when the mountains have worn you out. Older, but clean and well-staffed.
The owner called to apologize. Discussion revealed that our expectations were out of line and the routine services you would expect at other hotels are not offered here unless specifically requested when making reservations. Really wasn't an apology. Just clarification of the way lodging is provided in Red River, NM. Do not plan to visit Red River NM anytime soon. If we do, I will make sure this owner does not own a different location we may choose.
We had an amazing stay over the weekend! Owner met us right away and was always available our entire stay. The weekend fire the that is built brought together the guests and we are now have friends we keep in contact with that we may have never met. We will be staying here in the future with no doubt!!!!
