Beautiful campground with plentiful bathrooms (out house style) and great spacing on the outer loop. Easy to wander off into the wilderness for some great views behind the camping areas. No showers. But bears don't care how you smell.
One of several Carson N.F. campgrounds along NM 38 between Red River and Questa. Located approximately 3 miles west of Red River, this mesa-side park is on the north side of the highway and is more geared towards hiking in the foothills rather than easy access to the Red River. Many sites, good facilities in a forested area, this park can be both expensive and crazy crowded in peak months. Good, free winter camping area if you don't mind leaving your car along the highway and walking in.
Nice area off the highway a little but you can hear the highway. Clean bathrooms and has water. The price was a little high though for no showers it was $17
Nice campground with good camping spots. The river is across the street. Restrooms are ok.
